While many healthcare organizations treat paper as necessary evil, the process of accurately converting paper claims to EDI is core strength of Adaptive turning the capture process into a competitive advantage. In 2002, Adaptive™ customers expressed interest in the capture of claims at claim level accuracy. As a result of this interest, Adaptive pursued this objective and now provides service level agreements that offer accuracy rates at the 99% claim level, rather than at the much less accurate field and character levels.
What is claim level accuracy versus character or field level accuracy and how do you benefit? The following demonstrates the differences:
• 99% Character Level Accuracy - 99% of characters are guaranteed to be 100% accurate. If 100 critical characters per claim, 1 error per claim is tolerated. 100 errors per 100 images acceptable
• 99% Field Level Accuracy - 99% of fields are guaranteed to be 100% accurate. 1 error per every 5 claims is tolerated. 20 errors per 100 images acceptable.
• 99% Claim Level Accuracy - 99% of forms are guaranteed to be 100% accurate in critical fields. This is over 99% field level accuracy. Only 1 error per 100 images acceptable.
• Claim level Accuracy is 100 times more accurate (less errors) than Character Level Accuracy
Once the images are sent to the ClaimsASP Dallas data center, Qauto sort will identify all of the pages in the claim and apply the claim onto a correct path for processing through the Quantum pipeline. All claims that are unable to be automatically sorted will be routed to the Qfix operators for manual sorting.
Once claims have been properly identified, they are routed through the image scrubbing, adaptive registration and Qread processes utilizing state of the art OCR/ICR recognition engines and voting. Next, a member lookup is performed on the claim and any low confidence characters in the member information are repaired. If the claim is not member matched, the entire patient and member information is manually keyed or OCR Repaired and processed as a member reject. Customer specific elements of the process are also included in the process with business rules, member and provider matching and pre adjudication rules tailored to meet your business processes.
