Proof of Delivery Indexing
ACS scans 85,000 proof of delivery invoices for Pepsi Americas per day using Adaptive Imaging Solutions Quantum 2000 data capture and forms processing software. Multiple-page invoice batches have 3 sections separated by barcodes. QScan uses these barcodes to handle each portion of the invoice properly. Each invoice has a 26 - 35 digit index field that is somewhere on the paper. Quantum 2000 technology solves a problem that occurs with this floating index. The proof of delivery invoices are printed in delivery trucks that many times do not have the paper lined up properly before printing.
Traditional form processing technology could not be used to manually zone the field because the field would not be aligned correctly. The process would then either miss the field or pick up incorrect data. Full-page OCR wouldn't work either as the process would take much too long. The Adaptive process locates this field, pastes it onto a new blank image, enhances the characters and performs a data recognition process. The end result, only a few hours of manual effort per day to repair data compared to a few hundred operators that were required prior to Quantum's implementation.
